Коллекция печатей, доспехов и картин

1285-1290 - 'Jaume I, la Conquesta de Mallorca' (Master of the Conquest of Mallorca), Palau d'Aguilar, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain

Размер оригинала 548 Кб

Хайме и его рыцари в типичном каталонском вооружении.
Jaume and his knights in typical Catalan armour: heraldic surcoats are worn under other surcoats, maybe being studded with metal plates (note the flowery patterns, they could be rivets). Instead of 'heaumes' (big cylindrical helmets with eye slits) the knights are depicted wearing cervellières (small rounded helmets) with nasals.

ca. 1329 - 'Vilardell slays a griffin', Portal de Sant Iu, Catedral, Barcelona, Spain
Размер оригинала 493 Кб

St. Vilardell is armed in a typical Catalan manner. He carries his sword on a baldric, reflecting Moorish influence. Note the half rerebraces and vambraces protecting his arms and his legs completely encased in plate armour and the relatively light 'chapel-de-fer' helmet. The big cylindrical helmet or 'heaume' never became popular in Spanish territory.

ca. 1320-1330 - 'Graf Arnold von Kleve (+1142)', Bedburg, Pfarrkirche St. Mariä Himmelfahrt, Kleve, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany

Размер оригинала 173 Кб

Note the huge ailettes on Count Arnold's shoulders. Ailettes were a fashionable way of depicting a coat-of-arms besides the surcoat. They came in vogue around 1280 and disappeared around 1340, although there are some younger examples.
